3 blasts in (Kathmandu) Capital

KATHMANDU, May 26 - An unidentified group detonated three socket bombs in the capital, two of them near the southern gate of Birendra International Convention Center (BICC) at New Baneshwor and another outside the house of civil society advocate Devendra Raj Panday at Bishalnagar, Monday evening. BICC is the venue of the Constituent Assembly meeting.
Superitendent of Armed Police Force DB Kunwar, who was present at the BICC site, said that two bombs went off near the southern gate within a few minutes of each other around 5.25 p.m. The bomb outside Panday’s house went off late evening. There were no casualties. Eyewitnesses said that unidentified youths on motorbikes threw the explosive devices wrapped in plastic bags. Broken pieces of GI pipe and plastic were scattered near the blast site at BICC. SP Sarbendra Khanal said police suspect the same criminal outfit was involved in the three blasts.
After hurling the explosives, the unidentified youths, who claimed to be members of a little-known GFP Ranabir Army Nepal, also left pamphlets in which they warned major political parties not to play politics with the Hindu religion.
Soon after the incident, security was beefed up near BICC and at Bishalnagar. Dozens of police personnel from the Crime Department and the Armed Police Force inspected the incident sites. Police said they have begun investigations into the blasts by no one has been arrested in this connection.
