Purpose driven Life

I am reading a book by Rick titled Purpose driven Life. This is my reflection on the book:

The book “Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren is a spiritual book written from the Biblical perspective. The book is simple to understand with no doctrinal inclinations and theological buffs.

The book focuses as the title suggests what my purpose for living is. But before answering my quest for my living author reveals what is the Purpose of God for my living. In this revelation author takes us into the journey through five different areas of purpose of God, which are as follows:
YOU WERE PLANNED FOR GOD’S PLEASURE.
YOU WERE FORMED FOR GOD’S FAMILY.
YOU WERE CREATED TO BECOME LIKE CHRIST.
YOU WERE SHAPED FOR SERVING GOD.
YOU WERE MADE FOR A MISSION.

Based on the above cited purposes author exposes us how God has a purpose for my life. First comes His purpose in my life then comes my actions. The journey through his exposition made me think in every step. Who am I? What am I doing here? Am I really fulfilling the purpose of God through my actions? Can I be able to fulfill His purposes? The book not only moulds you emotionally, spiritually but psychologically too. The reflections given in the book are in no way only theoretical but they can be practiced in every day life whether one is in prayer, in dealing with the people, in the market place or alone. This book brought me closer to My God and opened various paths to reach Him and fulfill His purpose. The 40-day journey was fun filled, enlightening and introspective. I have gained spiritual and psychological maturity through this journey. My activities are now focused on fulfilling His purpose, which has led to fulfilling other purposes, which I have made consciously.

The book came to me at the right time when I am given the responsibility of leading people. The ups and down in the life of a leader can be handled easily, one can lead the people in the right direction. The performance demand of World Vision is so high that I tend to forget who am I but the book really gave me an opportunity to introspect myself. When the purpose of God and my own purpose tally the work flows smoothly.
Let me cite some of the quotations, which are my motivating forces:
Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our Life’s purpose.

Worship is a life style.
Busyness is a great enemy of relationship.
Pride blocks God’s grace in our lives, which we must have in order to grow, change, heal and help others.
Christ likeness is not produced by Imitation but by Inhabitation.

To change your life you must change the way you think.
The most essential quality for leadership is not perfection but credibility. How do you build credibility? Not by pretending to be perfect but by being honest.

This is a read must book for all. It is even more important for the people associated with World vision when we are striving for bringing Transformation in the lives of people. Without our own transformation the transformation in the other self is impossible and this book will help us bringing transformation in the self.

The other highlight of the book is that the biblical verses are taken from different Bible translations, which made me think and rethink the interpretation from various perspectives.

Once again, this book is meant for those who are seeking
his purpose in life, who has lost his purpose for living, who has ignored their purpose for living and for those who do not know Why Am I here for. May God guide you all in your pursuit for your purpose of living.
